I Am The One In Three CIC

Prostate Cancer

Get Ahead of it, Before it Gets Ahead of You

In 2026, I became Director of I Am the One In Three CIC a prostate awareness CIC that aims to empower men, families and communities with the knowledge, confidence and urgency to act on the third biggest killer of men worldwide.

My Mission

I Am The One In Three CIC turns lived experience into a movement - using every tool available to break silence, challenge stigma and close the inequality gap in prostate cancer. I reach men through real stories, honest conversations and creative communication that cuts through the noise.

I deliver powerful awareness talks, digital content, podcasts, animations, community events and one‑to‑one support to meet men where they are:
  • In workplaces
  • Sports clubs
  • Faith spaces
  • Online
  • Underserved communities
By blending science with humanity, facts with lived experience and information with emotion, I aim to empower men to recognise their risk early. Then they can ask the right questions and take action that could save their lives.
I Am The One In Three CIC is not‑for‑profit and all surplus is reinvested.

The Problem

Prostate cancer does not politely tap you on the shoulder.

It quietly hides. Then it hits.

Hard.

  • Most men have no symptoms in the early stages.

  • If it's caught late, treatment is harder and the outcome is worse.

  • Black men are twice as likely to get it.

  • A simple blood test can save your life.

This is preventable. But you have to act.

Who's Most At Risk

You are at higher risk if you are:

  • Aged 45+.

  • Black (your risk doubles).

  • Have a father or brother who has or had prostate cancer.

  • A mother or sister who currently has or has had breast cancer.

  • Experiencing any urinary changes (even mild ones).

If any of these apply, you should get a PSA test from your GP.

My Journey Here

I found out I had prostate cancer by chance. I never would have asked for a test. I knew about prostate cancer but it was for old people. I wanted a health MOT and the doctor suggested having a PSA test as well.

Had he not suggested it, I probably wouldn't be here today.

I had stage 2 prostate cancer - and I had no symptoms.

Over eight years with Prostate Cancer UK, I’ve spoken with thousands of men — men in denial, men scared to ask, men who waited too long. I’ve seen brutal outcomes up close, including a school friend diagnosed at stage 4.

The simple truth is, I once wasn't any different.

So I asked myself the hardest question: "What would have reached me?"

This CIC is my answer.

It’s built from lived experience, emotional connection and honesty, cutting through stigma and speaking to men in a  language they understand.

Before it’s too late.

My Work

  • Delivering prostate cancer awareness talks to workplaces, community groups, faith organisations and events.
  • Running information stands and one‑to‑one conversations that support men to take proactive steps regarding their prostate health.
  • Producing accessible digital content, including a long‑running blog and podcast, to target men who may not engage with traditional health messaging.
  • Developing a new series of short, adult‑style educational cartoons focused on PSA testing and early detection.
  • Creating a new video podcast series based on lived experience, aimed at engaging men through honest, relatable storytelling.
  • Designing a new professional awareness presentation to expand the reach and impact of community education.

If you do nothing else, just get tested.
